Is it possible to assign 2 ports to a vlan on this switch and have the 2 machines connected to those ports be able to see each other without having to go off of the switch? If so, how would it need to be setup on the switch?

Are there any tweaks needed to use the switch when connected to ESX server, have 2 VM's that I'm trying to put on a separate vlan. Nothing I've tried will get them to connect to each other.

Hi,
Can you supply a detailed diagram of what you are trying to do.
Like have the ports from the switch to be trunked towards the ESX servers ?
What Vlan numbers are involved etc etc ?
Regards,
Alex.

All I want to accomplish is put 2 VM's into a heartbeat network for Microsoft clustering. The VM's are on 2 separate hosts, 2nd virtual nic added to each VM. The physical nic on each host is running to the slm2008, connected to ports 2 and 7, created vlan 5 and assigned both of these ports to the vlan. Do i have to use trunking in order to get a connection between the 2 VM's?
