Hi
I use a C3750 as my core switch where I have configured all the vlans for my office. We have a 100 Mbps link for Internet but I notice that the speed is only nearly half from user side. The 100 Mbps link is connected to a firewall to which the switch is connected. In order to make sure this is not an ISP issue, I connected a laptop directly to the firewall and got a speed more than 90 Mbps. So it's definitely not an ISP issue. Attached is the configuration of my switch. I'm not able to find out where the configuration is wrong. Any assistance would be appreciated.

At this moment i can only think of couple of things to test.
1. FW to Switch what is the negotiation speed ( post show interface gi 1/0/23)
2. enable ip cef
3. use any free port configure simple config like below
default the interrface
switch mode access vlan XX
no shutdown
4. confgure the PC with the IP of that VLAN and gateway ( configure DNS Setting what is the best usable for your stup)
- if the DHCP configured you get DHCP IP automatically based on the config.
5. make sure you have DNS resolution correctly resolved, test with nslookup from PC
Test and advise, and post the output of all, try http://fast.com and post the results of PC and otehr config.

ip cef was disabled due to ARP resolution errors that kept showing up in the logs. Disabling cef was the recommendation I found in forums. I will test what you have suggested and reply soon.

Hi,
The command is not accepted.
The mtu was 1500 before, I increased the size to accept jumbo frames hoping that would make some difference. Do you recommend to change it back to 1500?
Also the system mtu routing is 1500..This applies to L3 ports right?

You should not change MTU to higher level, until you have other end can able to match that MTU
setup back to MTU 1500 or default interface and configure back as suggested.

Hello,
the MTU size of 7500 looks odd. Can you change that to 1500 in interface configuration mode (mtu 1500) ?

when you plug in the pc I assumed it was set to auto negotiate its speed/duplex settings but on the switchport it’s looks like it hardcoded?

Hi Paul,
It is set to auto negotiate. On the other end of G1/0/23 is a Fortigate Firewall 80C. It has only got Fast Ethernet port that supports 100 Mbps.

1) it looks like this switch is your core switch but is it also your stp root?
2) can you try adding a layer3 svi for vlan 50 and then changing gig1/0/23 from a routed port to a switchport
