Smartnet for equipment 4503 and Catalyst 2960X

I would like to know if the Smartnet is acceptable for the following equipment:

Cisco 4503-E with Supervisor 8E and Catalyst WS-C2960X-48FPS-L

Is the smartnet just a support contract or is it like a server that is implemented to register cisco equipment?

Cisco is no longer actively supporting the 4503-E so there is no Smartnet for this product. I believe that Cisco has announced end of availability for Smartnet forWS-C2960X in October of this year.
