Software update for 3850 - software command not available

I have a WS-C3850-48P switch that I am trying to upgrade.  I have copied the new IOS over, but the 'software' command is not found.

From sh ver:

Switch Ports Model SW Version SW Image Mode

SW1#software ?
% Unrecognized command
SW1#software

Any ideas on why this is not available?  How do I get around this?

Hello,

In 16.x.x code the command changed, the command you want is:

request platform software package install switch all file flash:[filename] auto-copy
