Hi all-
I have a scenario where we have two bonded 4500X in the core and as well as two 5548 Nexus switches that are bonded as well. On both systems, I need to configure a SPAN. Can I do the span to a port that is not on the source switch? For example, on 4500-1 i have a source port for the SPAN and the destination is on 4500-2. Is this possible or will each physical switch need its own SPAN destination on its respective switch?
Same question goes for the 5548.
Thanks-

Hi,
Yes, SPAN source and destination can be on the same switch or use a vlan with different switch as source and destination.

Thanks. Just to be clear....
I want the SPAN source on 4500-2 and the destination on 4500-1. Same goes for the Nexus 5k. Is this still correct?
thanks.

The 4500s are VSS right? If this the case, they are logically one switch. So, even though you are doing it between 2 physical switches the config apples to only one switch,
As for the 5ks they are 2 separate switches. So, as long as you have a layer-2 connection between them you should be able to use a vlan and use RSPAN.
Here is a link for the 5ks.
