Hi
I have a question regarding SPAN with Layer-3 link to Core/Distribution?
The topology is as under:
<IP-Phone>-----<cat3560>------<cat6500>------<3570>------<recording-server>
Cat3560s are configured with Data and Voice VLANs
There are 5 x 3560 connected with using layer-3 uplinks to cat6500. Now if SPAN is configured the port goes down is promiscuous mode and causes traffic. Cat6500 are in building 2 where as 3560s are in building 1. RSPAN is not applicable due to layer-3 uplinks. Another option could be RITE, but it is not supported on 3560 switches.
Traffic need to be sniffed for voice vlan for specific phones.
Any suggestions
regards,
Khalid

solution - put the recording server closer to the ports/vlans in question.
