speed negociation delay

I've got an infrastructure with gigabit 4500 switch and connected machines.

Machines connected with standard twisted cable (4 pairs) works fine and negociate quite instantly to G : no problem.

When have to split one plug and connect 2 machines (2 paris for each), the speed is negociated to 100M full : no problem concerning the speed, but it seems that the process of the negociation itself is quite long and so, the port makes quite a long time to come up (up to 10-20 seconds).

The problem is that when I fix the speed on the switch port, the connection does not work (speed is configured in auto mode on my machines and I cannot change that).

Is there any possibility to decrease this delay of speed negociation ?

The problem is that when I fix the speed on the switch port, the connection does not work (speed is configured in auto mode on my machines and I cannot change that).

What might be the cause of that, many of the newer ports are also auto MDI/MDI-X when auto is enabled but not when auto is disabled.  Try swapping tx/rx pair.
