Hello Guys,

I want to implement SSM Multicast using IGMPv2 on ASR 9000 IOS XR . I have already tested SSM/IGMPv3 it was working fine.

I have seen some mapping mechanims for IGMPv2 without concrete example . Anyone has some valid refernces/scanrios over this issue. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

With Regards

Hello,

I believe IGMPv2 does not support SSM. I havent seen any mappings to get around this either. That capability was added with IGMPv3 which is why it works in your example.

There are some SSM mapping options when you have "legacy" group management protocols deployed (ie, IGMPv2); that is, static mapping of group addresses to sources via DNS records or router ACLs. However, it is my belief is that you are better off just switching your network to IGMPv3 instead.
