I have a cisco WS-C3750G-24TS with IOS flash :/ c3750-mz.122-ipservicesk9-25.SEB4.bin "
I purchased a new Cisco WS-C3750X-24 with the IOS flash :/ c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-1.SE/c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-1.SE.bin. ( NEW )
When i configured a stack between the two 3750, the new switch restarted due the version mismatch (different IOS´s);
We have two versions:
WS-C3750G-24TS-ipservicesk9 flash :/ c3750-mz.122-25.SEB4.bin "
VS
WS-C3750X-24 flash :/ c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-1.SE/c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-1.SE.bin.
Is that possible to configure a stack between then?

Tenho um cisco WS-C3750G-24TS com o IOS flash:/c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.1
22-25.SEB4.bin"
WS-C3750G-24TS flash:/c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-25.SEB4.bin"

You need the same exact IOS in all devices in the stack, if not, it will not work.
More info:
Switches with different Cisco IOS software versions likely have different stack protocol versions. Switches with different major version numbers are incompatible and cannot exist in the same switch stack.

So how can not I upgrade the IOS 3750G (c3750-mz.122-ipservicesk9-25.SEB4.bin) in 3750x.
And also I can not upgrade the IOS of the 3750X (c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-1.SE.bin.) In 3750G. I will not be able to do the stack?
Not is there any solution?

Can you post "show flash" and "show version" from the 3750G and 3750X?

If your 3750 has 16 Mb of flash, the HIGHEST IOS you can go is 12.2(55)SEx (SE, SE1, SE2, SE3, SE4 or SE5).
The 3750X-24TS should be able to operate in this IOS version level. Just check the Release Notes.
You will need to upgrade the 3750G to 12.2(55)SE (or later) and you will need to DOWNGRADE the IOS of the 3750X to the 12.2(55)SE (or later).

Have you gotten it to work? I'm tyring to do the same thing. I have a 3750G-48PS-S with image IPServices-M 12.2(40)SE and a new 3570X-48P-S with image 3750E-Universal-M 12.2.(55)SE3 with IP Base image. Would I have to upgrade the licencse on the 3570x to IP Service for the same version and then upgrade the 3750G ios to 12.2(55)SE3? Can some one confirm that this will work? I don't want to spend ~$5k on the license upgrade and have it not stackable. That would not be fun.

Your 3750G is already licensed to work in IP Services. Just make sure your 3750X is also licensed for IP Services. Just enter the command "sh license" and make sure IP Services is identified as "lifetime".

Hello Daniel,
It is possible having mix features set.
Upgrade the 3750G ios to 12.2(55)SE3 and stack the switch with the 3750x running ipbase.
This is NOT a Cisco recommended/preferred solution, though "Mix stacks" as in "Mixed IOS feature sets" are supported with some caveats:
. You should have at least two switches in a stack running IP services.
. Only IP Base and IP Services feature sets can be mixed stacked!
. A Cat3K switch running LAN Base feature set can Not stack with any Cat3k that does not run LAN Base feature set.
. The master needs to run the IP services feature set, the master and backup master must be manually configured so that the switches running IP Services feature set have the highest priority to become the stack master and backup master. With this setup, if the master dies, the backup master that takes the master role is also running IP services.
Once again, It is a supported deployment but this is not a Cisco recommended solution and this should not be advertised.

Thanks Haihua Rong,
I finally had some time to try it out yesterday and it worked like you said! I understand it's not a "Cisco recommended" solution, but it shouldn't have any issues in production right? It'll definitely save us quite a few $$$ being able to stack it without any additional license upgrade fees. My new stack will consist of 5 3750 series switches with one of them being the x series. So if I make 2 of the original 3750G's (with IP services) to have priorites of 15 and 14, then that should take care of the master and backup master with IP services right?

Hello Daniel,
I am so glad that everything is up and running properly.... and yes, with this setup, if the master dies, the backup master that takes the master role is also running IP services.
