I have a question regarding multicast on the stack-ring of the Catalyst 2960-S units.
In a network where high bandwidth multicast traffic is used, we would like to make sure we understand how multicast traffic is sent across the stack switches over the stack-ring. We will be having multicast streams of 1Gbit/s each sent over the network. Each stack-ring port is rated on 10Gbit/s.
Our question comes down to: how does FlexStack work with multicast traffic?

Will the multicast stream automatically be sent over the stack-ring to the other switches, even when there’s no subscriber on those other switches?
Or, will the multicast stream only be sent over the stack-ring to the other switches when there’s a subscriber on those other switches?
We found a whitepaper where the Stackwise technology is explained on the 3750 range but this doesn’t answer our question on the FlexStack used in the 2960-S range. This is an excerpt of the whitepaper:
