Hi,

stacking has been done with 9 cisco switches and it is working properly ,if I tasked to renumber the switch 4 as switch 7 and Verse ,then how it is possible?

without reloading?

and also explain the below

Switch-3750>show swi nei
Switch # Port 1 Port 2
-------- ------ ------
1             4            2
2             1            3
3             2            5
4             5            1
5             3            4

What are these numbers 4,1,2,5,3 under port 1 and 2,3,5,1,4 under port 2?Is it the stack cable physical connection?can any body draw a physical layout for this? Please tell me what are those colored numbers mean to the stack?

It is possible but the two switches will need to be taken off the stack, issue the command, and then reload.

After taking those 2 switches from stack other switch remains the same switch number and those 2 will not be present (switch 4 and switch 7)will not be present.

I just post my assumption here,if wrong correct me

1.Power down both switch 4 & 7

2.Remove from the stack

3.Delete old configuration

4.join to the stack

5.renumber the switch

When joining both switch to the stack will it be renumbered automatically or we need to assign number?

  1. Renumber the switch from the stack master.
  2. Remove the switch from the stack.
  3. Power down the switch.
  4. Connect the stack cable.
  5. Power up the switch.
