Stack Switches Changing Priority

Hi,

I am using 5 Cisco 2960-X switches that are stacked. However, the logical and physical order of switches is wrong (I.E. the top switch is switch 3, second from the top is switch 4, etc). I have fixed that by changing the priorities so that next time the switches boot up, the logical and physical order is the same.

Here is the issue. I am not on site and will be doing this through telnet. I have the router connected to the first port of the top switch (which is switch 3) and have Gi3/0/1 configured appropriately. The problem is, after the reboot, that port will become Gi1/0/1 as that switch will now be switch 1. Will the config that applied to that switch when it was switch (Gi3/0/1) stay associated with that switch (Gi1/0/1) or would whatever switch is now switch 3 have this command?

I am concerned because I am not on site and will access the stack through that router. If that port is no longer configured to face the router I won't be able to access the stack.

Thanks.

Hi

I'm sorry but if you remotely reload the stack you'll be in big trouble. here extract of the Cisco 2960x documentation:

If you change the number of a stack member, and no configuration is associated with the new stack member number, that stack member loses its current configuration and resets to its default configuration.

Thanks
