Hi,
I need to be able to automatically shutdown a switchport if the output rate goes over a certain threshold.
I know that storm control can put a port in err-disabled based on the input rate of broadcasts, unicasts or multicasts; however this does not work for output rate.
Basically i need the same features for the output rate.
Is this possible??

The thresholds can either be expressed as a percentage of the total available bandwidth that can be used by the broadcast, multicast, or unicast traffic, or as the rate at which the interface receives multicast, broadcast, or unicast traffic. Storm control is supported on physical interfaces. You can also configure storm control on an EtherChannel, although you cannot configure storm control on the individual ports of that channel.

yes but i believe storm control only works on inbound traffic. Not outbound.
Is that true?
