We have a lot of 3550 switches in our network. On the FastEthernet ports we have configured broadcast control like this:
storm-control broadcast level 2.00
In my opinion this should limit all broadcast traffic to 2% of the interface speed, which is 100 Mpbs. Still, we had a broadcast storm today from one of these ports, and it looked like this:
5 minute input rate 17659000 bits/sec, 23305 packets/sec
This was all broadcast-traffic, and while testing the traffic raised close to 100Mbps. The storm-control command seems to do nothing at all.
Do any of you know what could be wrong?
Kind regards,

What does the output of the "show storm-control fax/x" (your interface) show?

Hi,
The output is this:
R-s-s01#show storm-control fa0/3
Interface Filter State Upper Lower Current
--------- ------------- ----------- ----------- -----------
Fa0/3 Forwarding 2.00% 2.00% 0.00%
Everything seems to be in order, but it's definitively not...
