Strange (empty) port behaviour.

Hello guys,

A catalyst 9410R of ours has recently been receiving the following log's concerning an empty transceiver slot. It is currently running software version 16.9.3

We have attempted to resolve this issue by reloading the supervisor this didn't resolve the issue.

This transceiver slot has always been empty and there haven't been any configurational changes regarding this specific interface.

Does anyone have any idea as to what might trigger this to occur and/or how we might be able to fix it? Thanks in advance!

Looks like bug for me, I have seen this issue some time back on Cat 9500, after upgrading to 16.12.X fixed the issue, (not sure on your case, if you get chance to upgrade try upgrade to new version and see if that fixes the issue )

There used to be an optics at Ten 6/0/4, wasn't there? 

If it did, and it is no longer there, it is a known bug.  A reboot will get rid of the phantom log entries or upgrade the firmware of the chassis.

Hey Leo,

I haven't been there physically, but I've been assured it never had an optic present nor was there an optic inserted prior to these logs occuring.

I will try and get an upgrade window and reply whether this fixed it or not. Thank you for your replies Leo and Balaji
