Hi Experts,
In a virtualized campus network, what would the main advantage be if we implemended VPLS instead of stretching Vlans across several distribution switches?
Are the entire VPLS considered as à broadcast domain? Are there some smart functions that protects from and confine broadcast storms in VPLS?
Please, share your thoughts!
Thanks, Johan

Hi,
VPLS is used when 2 CEs need to talk to each other over an MPLS network. So, if you don't run MPLS in your environment then you can simply extend the vlan from one side to another.
Here is good white paper on VPLS and its benefits:

Hi Reza,
Thanks for the white paper, I hadn't seen that one and it was great reading.
But anyway. Yes, we use MPLS all the way to the distribution layer at our campus network but we also have the possibility to streched vlan's beside the mpls core.
Do yuo think it's worth the more complex configuration in the mpls-cloud to run a vpls-instance? Should we gain anything?
