SUP720 IOS 15.1 and ROMMON version support

Dear Community,

we are currently on ROMMON 12.2(17r)SX5 and IOS 12.2 and want to upgrade to 15.1 with minimal downtime. Question:

- Is ROMMON 12.2(17r)SX7 update really needed to run IOS 15.1? In Release Notes ROMMON 12.2(18r)S1 or later is mentioned. But current ROMMON 12.2(17r)SX5 was released after 12.2(18r)S1 (15-APR-2008)?

12.2(18r)S1 is newer. 

Release Notes recommend upgrading the ROMmon if you're using WS-F6700-DFC3CXL.  If you don't then there's no need. 

However, I would recommend ROMmon upgrade because it saves urgent time when the need should ever arise.
