Switch 2960L - Inject configuration file (.cfg)

Hello everyone,

Currently I deploy a series of identical switches (Catalyst 2960L).

I am developing a protocol to update them (IOS) and inject a basic configuration, which I am modifying (including IP).

I have a configuration file (.CFG) from another prod 2960L switch and downloaded via Cisco Prime.

For now I can update it.

Load new IOS via USB

- #copy usbflash0: miseajour.bin flash:

and then booting it on.

conf# boot system flash:.........bin

Then inject the conf via USB = no worries

- #copy usbflash0: conf8p.cfg flash:

I find it well in flash memory

- #dir flash:/

then copy run start and reload

I see that part of my .conf file has been taken into account, basically, only VLANs and nothing else. Not the hostname, not the network conf, assigning vlan to ports...

Is that normal? Did I miss a few things???

Thank you for your advice.

Olivier

Before you make a "copy run start" you must make a "copy flash:/conf8p.cfg runn" to copy your flash config to running-config.

Cordially,

- #dir flash:/

then copy run start and reload

when do you that above, it copy the current config to startup?

instead, you can copy that config to startup-config  (it's in NVRAM) and reload and test it.
