switch 2960S username problem

After i have already configured my cisco switch 2960 , i configured my console as the below

line con0

password xx

login

exit

after i reboot my switch , i found that the switch asked me for username . However i did not configure username , how can i solve this problem , without password reset . I have already configured 15 switch , 100% this problem will be in all switches.

Thank you , is your answer for my question? !. My question is after i configure password under line console , when i reboot the switch (asked me to enter username , however i did not configure username). I need help for this issue to get default username or maybe there is a username is created by default.

If you have created any user account in local database , please try giving that username and password and just confirm the line console 0 u have given "login " or "login local"

i tred to simulate your situation and after I specified

line con0

login local

so after switch reload it asked me for username. Probably, you will have to reset password.

Yes , i have aready tried without anyresult.i checked , but my issue is different. Is there any method to use web conf , however i changed vlan 1 to vlan 49 and i gave vlan49 management IP.

If you have not specified username so you will not have access to Web GUI. Web GUI reqiures username and password configuration.

Hi,

your problem is surely due to aaa new-model command configured without any local user database.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that http access will use the enable password for authentication if none is configured so it may be worth giving it a try( blank user and enable password as pass).

Thanks , i feel that your answer is correct. When i use blank username  and press enter , switch asked me about username . I have to enter a username , so can you tell me in this case which username , P.W to  enter. Other thing i found that is there management interface , can i use it to login?.please help

so this means that the behavior I expected is not the correct one, I'll try it on a switch this evening.

In this case you'll have to do a password recovery.

Hi Cadet,

I would like to make it clear to myself.

My opinion is that when you enable aaa new-model so you cannot just type command login for vty or con 0. Probably IOS tell you

% Incomplete command  message.

Maybe it depends on IOS version? So if Mohamed had aaa new-model befor console configuration he could not type login.

I enable login under console. Anyway , is there anyway to disable the username asking , instead of password recovery?.
