Hi Folks,
I work at a remote site from our HQ. This location is about 20Km from HQ. We have currently 4 separate networks between the two buildings. These network service different departments/clients and are completely independent of one another. At the moment we are using a simple media converter that allows us to transport four 1g connections. We are hoping to add two more networks, however, the existing media converter will not suffice.
Please, someone, tell me if I am out to lunch on this plan. I am looking at purchasing two WS-C3850-12XS-S. Ten interfaces would be set up as 1GE with their own VLAN per interface with no gateway. I would have one 1TE interface connecting both switches together with a trunk. I'm hoping the switch will act as a media converter for up to ten independent networks.
See attached drawing.
If this plan is sound, what should I look out for? If this is not the way to go, can you suggest something that would work?
Thank you,
Simon

Hi
Yes, this switch will work for that and create separate vlans with routing disabled to avoid communications between the vlans.
