Dears in support

I configured cisco 2960 switch with the command of ntp server X.X.X.X prefer but when I enter command of sh ntp status it shows me Clock is unsynchronized, stratum 16, no reference clock and in command of sh ntp association it shows 0.0.0.0 as a ref clock. when value shows - and poll value is 64. I can ping the ntp server as well and the local PC can sync with ntp and take time from it. your kindly assistance is appreciated.

Hello

Does the ntp server have any acl prohibiting your host?

Is the any latency between the server and your host?

Any authentication required?

Debug ntp validity <---- check the sanity of the reason of this failure

Dear Paul

Switch does not have any ACL to block udp port 123(NTP), there is no latency between host and server and I did not config any authentication in switch side and if configuration is set in ntp side the local pc also should not taking time through ntp as I checked no authentication is required when we sync time in local pc. I turn it on all debug include validity by switch is not showing me any out put.

Hi,

What are you using as NTP server? Avoid using a Windows server as NTP as it uses SNTP which does not work well with other devices.

Are other switches synchronizing with that NTP server?

Thanks

John
