Switch Recommendation Request

Hello,

I am trying to build my own small network test lab.  I already have most of my hardware ordered already and now I am trying to find the appropriate Cisco switch.  My switch requirements currently are

• Need at least 20 1Gbps switch ports
• Need ability for layer 3
• The current incoming uplink supports 3Gbps, it would be nice to have about 4 RJ45 ports capable of 3Gbps
• Needs to be rack mountable

Perhaps there are some suggestions.

Hi Dan,

You might want to look at the SG 500 Series or the access layer catalyst switches such as the 2900 series depending on your exact needs.

How many L3 features do you need?  (Reason I ask, some L2 switches support very basic L3.)

What kind of link supports 3 Gbps?

How many other features do you need?  (Reason I ask,Cisco has SMB switches and Catalyst switches, the latter generally with more features and also generally more expensive.)
