Switch - Redundant Ports options

Hey Everyone ,

Been googling around and have not located if this is an option on switches.

We are working on a design that would be helped out IF we could use the ASA concept of redundant ports on our switches. We are a bit limited on being able to lab this up and test it ( which we will try to do ). Can/does the following work on Cisco Switch 16.9x ?

sw(config)# interface redundant 1

sw(config -if)# member-interface ___phys int_________  for both int desired to be redundant ( up to 8 can be placed in here iirc )

         Thanks in advance!

Hi,

With switches, you can bundle multiple physical links (up to 8 and some up to 16)  on one Portchannel and use LACP or PACP as the protocol. You also use the "on" option without using any protocols. See link for more info:

Hey HTH,

Yeah, we are not able to use any LACP/PAGP in this area of our network.

sorry, good idea but no dice!

Hi,

How about mode "on"?

Not sure about your topology are you looking more than 8 links?  LAG does you automatically redundancy.

Let me clarify a little bit:

we want to duplicate the redundant port option allowed on ASAs on a switch.

Is this at all possible? Does the command exist?

We are well aware of the various ways to run port aggregation. Port aggregation will not meet our needs due to the end devices in use. This is an industrial network setting. We are exploring this as on option.

thanks!
