can any one tell me the difference between soft reset of module 3 of cisco switch and hard reset of module 3, what's the command used in hard reset?

As below

hard reset can be reseating or using hw command , soft reset is hw command , unless the module is stuck in some state I would just use the hw , I only ever use the power when its say in power dwn state and something went wrong or if hw doesn't work either and you cant bring it up use the power command

  1. Soft-reset the module (by issuing the hw-module module <module#> reset command).
  2. Hard-reset the module by physically reseating the card or by issuing the no power enable module <module#> and the power enable module <module#> global configuration commands.

BTW, I believe I recall, on some chassis devices, there's some card settings that only are changed when the whole chassis is power cycled.

I.e. depending on why you need to do a reset, even a card hw reset might not be enough.
