Hi
We currently have a stack of 5 x 3750 switches and i want to remove switch number 3 (it has the least number of things plugged in).
Can anyone tell me what will happen to switch 4 and 5 will they be renumbered 3 and 4, and will the config automatically update this if it does?
Thanks

Existing stack members should retain their existing switch numbering.
You'll also will see the removed switch's configuration remain in the stack. (This to allow easier replacement of a failed switch, with like model.)

They will not renumber by itself.
First make sure once switch3 is removed and the stack ring is as it should be, follow guide line below
After your stack ring is up and running again do
show switch
make sure you see all ports up and and you will see swich 1 2 4 5
then you do
no switch 3 provision
switch 4 renumber 3
switch 5 renumber 4
and change the priotiry if you care
Make sure you do this off production hours.
