Switch will not connect to server

Hi

I have a new cisco meraki ms120-48 switch which has 4 SFP ports.  I have a number of other meraki switches that also have SFP ports and they are not a problem.

I connected the above switch to a Dell which has 4 lan ports

2x QLogic BCM57800 10 Gig ethernet(NDIS VBD)- have upgraded the drivers

2x Qlogic BCM57800 gig ethernet ports. (these work fine using a lan cable)

The server is a Dell PowerEdge R730xd Server, 2 Xeon cpu's and 256GB or ram.

When i plug the new SFP cable into the server the lan lights light up, however when the other end is plugged into the switch there is no indication of connection.  I have tried all 4 SFP ports on the switch and they are all unresponsive.

I have checked on the meraki dashboard and there is no indication that anything is plugged in.  I have called the meraki helpdesk but they think it may be a cable problem.  However this is a brand new cisco SFp - H10GB-CU3M cable and adapter.  I cannot test that just yet as i have users on the network.

Has anyone experienced anything similar, is there anything i have not done. (besides swap the cable)

Thanks

sounds like a 10GB cable in a 1GB port
