Switches in public spaces- Trunk links and Security - Advice Please

Hello All,

Ive received a Specification which states the trunk links between switches must be password protected and not much more to work with.  The provider of the Spec has more general IT knowledge and is looking to us to recommend the security method that meets his requirement.  I anticipate the switches are in public spaces hence not wanting someone to unplug the Trunk back to the core and gain access.  Port security on the edge ports is planned but the Trunk security I've not had to apply before.

Note: There is physical security but the security is not guaranteed (its a remote solar farm but also offering local public wifi to the area so cant lock down to mac addresses).

Has anyone had this requirement before and advice/recommendations on how to approach?

Regards

Dave

Between the switches, there is an appliance that encrypts the link.
