TCP Retransmissions

I recently moved 12 users behind a new firewall and now during ms file transfers we get write delay errors. In doing some packet captures I can see TCP retransmits. What is the cause of this?

Dropped packets.

You could have a duplex mismatch. Check to be sure the NIC speed and duplex are locked down on both sides for the firewall interfaces.

you were absolutely right. The switch ports were set for auto and setting themselves as 100/half. I forced them to match 100/full on the firewall and all is dandy. Thanks for the help. happy new year.
