Hi,
I know that by using the extended commands under the ping ip utility, I'm able to source a ping from a specific IP interface on a router, but is there a way to do the same with a traceroute? I'm trying to verify whether a specific subnet (VLAN) on a L3 switch is being routed downstream (or possibly being blocked by a firewall), but when I do traceroutes I'm not sure that the tracerotue is being sourced from that subnet.
Thanks.

On a router simply type "traceroute", hit return, and then fill in the questions and it gives you an option to use a specific source IP. Sorry, but don't have a switch to test with, and i can't remember, but you can try the same.

Yup, I just tested it as well, and it works as you described. It would make more sense if it worked like the "ping ip" set of subcommands, but whatever, now I know.
Thanks very much!
