Hi

I have stange issue on my network.

I can ping my closet switch from distribution switch without any problems and vice versa. All are on Layer 3 boundry.Distro switches s is tied into the core

Closet switches are configured as stub and Distro switch is the ABR running area 1 stub no -summary. It is a totally stubby network

When a i run a tracroute from the Distro switch i get no response only * * * and keeps on continuing like that.

when i do a tracert for my PC behind the closet switch it hits the distro switch and reaches the specified closet without any problem.

Q1. Can anybody hep me with this

Q2. Is this access list issue coz we have them in place for the switches in the network.

Please appreciate any response

There are some things in your post that are not clear to me. Am I correct in understanding that both the closet switches and the distro switches are configured as layer 3 switches and are running OSPF as the routing protocol?

When you tel us this:"when i do a tracert for my PC behind the closet switch it hits the distro switch and reaches the specified closet" can you clarify what is doing the tracert? Where is that coming from?

You tell us that the tracert reaches the closet without problem, does it then get to the destination ok?

It seems that you are describing a situation  where ping to some destinations works ok but that traceroute does not. Is this the case? If so it seems to me that the logical explanation is that there is an access list that is denying traffic. Perhaps if you could supply more information about how things are connected and could post the configs then perhaps we could find better explanations for your problem.
