what will cause a switch to see itself in the CDP while trying to establish a trunk?

somehow the port is looped . One reason you will see that is when a port goes to a hub and hub has 2 connections back to the switch.

it is a fiber to fiber connectivity. The 4503 which sees itself in the CDP is connected to a 3560 through a fiber cable.
