Hi All,

I am setting up two 2960 cisco switches, set up two vlans (Vlan 1 (default)  Vlan 5). i configured gi1/0/1 to be a trunk port for both switches using :

en

conf t

int gi1/0/1

switchport mode trunk

switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-1000

and i have done this on both switches however the trunk port is not working. i used a crossover cable in port 1 on both switches. when i do

show int trunk

i dont get anything returned.

Can you please advice.

Many Thanks

Abdo

Also when i run sh int trunk i still dont get any information it just goes to a new line

Hi

Crossover is not required on Cisco switches 2960, you can use a straight cable.

The crossover cables is usually used between switches 2940, 2950 or 3550 between them or with recent switches models.

Now if both interfaces have the same configuration, it should go up, also verify if they are not administratively shutdown, otherwise execute: no shutdown.
