Hello, we have Cisco Switch IE-3200 that was connected to Cisco 3550 switch .
In period about every 7 days there is a problem on port on Cisco 3550 switch ,where is connected IE-3200, UDLD disable port, port goes to err-disable state:
UDLD disabled interface Gi0/1, unidirectional link detected
When we try to recover port, there is no results. But, when we restart switch IE-3200 and recover port, the link is established. After some period from 5- 7 days, situation repeats, and again , after restarting switch link is ok.
Just to mention, switches are connected with fiber, we checked fiber, sfp , patch cables, and finally we replaced switch 3550 with Cisco 9200, and problem is the same.
Should we consider replacing switch IE3200, or try something else?
Best regards

The cause is likely to be hardware related, either due to a bad port, a bad cable, or a mis-configured cable.
Hope you have tried both the ends already replacing cable and optics
Now time to Look at the configuration, what is your UDLD configuraiton on both the sides ?
what kind of CPU Load on both the side.
what happends when you do shut and no shutdown, is this come up ?
it is worth to enable on global config - err-disable recovery cause udld " only when you see there is no STP loops in the network).
post below outout :
sh int gi 0/1
sh run int gi 0/1

Hi, Balaji,
yes, we have tried to resolve the problem by replacing optics, but we were confused why is everything ok after restarting switch.
In CPU Load we do not see nothing unusual. We tried with command -err-disable recovery cause udld, but did not helped.
This is the output from IE-3200:

- I would also advice to use the latest recommended software releases on both platforms. Especially if some box currently has a relatively old version running.
