Hello,

I want to upgrade my Cisco ISR 891 IOS from 15.3(3).M5   into 15.4(3).M5 or 15.5.   but it is not getting upgraded.

I removed the "boot system command from old and replaced it with new IOS 15.4" as shown bellow, but still when I reload my router,  I get bellow outputs:

This is the IOS you're trying to load.

C891F-K9

This is the model of the router, an 891F.

loadprog: error - Invalid image for platform

The error message above means the IOS the router is attempting to boot is for the wrong model, an 891/891W (instead of an 891F).

Conclusion:  The 891F router won't boot the specific IOS because that particular IOS is made for a different model, an 891/891W.

Most likely the new IOS is corrupt.

Console into the router and reload the router.  Post the entire boot-up process.
