Upgrading old cisco 4507

Hello, 

I am in a process of upgrading old cisco catalyst cisco WS-C4503-E (MPC8572).

Existing Code           :  cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.02.00.SG.150-2.SG.bin

new proposed Code :  cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.bin

I dont have access  to logs, BUT i was told  that previous attempts was failed and it came into ROMMON. 

Any official MOP

                        - You need to provide a console-log as to why it is currently failing.

The reason why the upgrade failed because no one took the time to read the Release Notes.  Under "Upgrading the System Software" it is stated:  

• If you are upgrading to Cisco IOS XE Release 3.8.1E and using Supervisor Engine 8L-E, you must upgrade to ROMMON 15.1(1r)SG6 before upgrading the IOS-XE image to 3.8.1E or newer versions.
• If you are upgrading to Cisco IOS XE Release 3.8.xE and plan to use VSS, you must upgrade your ROMMON to version 15.0(1r)SG10. Otherwise, you must upgrade your ROMMON to at least Version 15.0(1r)SG2.
• If you are upgrading to Cisco IOS XE Release 3.8.xE and using Supervisor Engine 7-E or 7L-E, you must use ROMMON version 15.0(1r)SG10 or a higher version (if available).
• If you are upgrading to Cisco IOS XE Release 3.8.0E and using Supervisor Engine 8-E, you must use ROMMON version 15.1(1r) SG5 or later, version or a higher version (if available).

Thank you for a detailed reply.  we had two successful upgrades in recent past from code  cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.07.03.E.152-3.E3.bin  to  cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.bin  with ROMMON 15.0(1r)SG5.

What is the config registry value?  
Default is 0x2101.
