Virtual Switching

Hi,

  I have Cisco Cat 6509 with Supervisor Engine (WS-SUP720-3BXL) and IOS (12.2(33)SXH2a), I would like to know is it support Virtual Switching if yes is it stable.

No you can't. You have the right IOS version ie. 12.2(33)SXH but your supervisors do not support it. You need either of the following supervisors -

VS-S720-10GE-3C

VS-S720-10GE-3CXL

Another thing to consider is your 10Gb module.  VSS and 6704-10GE don't like each other especially when you want to link them both up to form a VSS Link (VSL).

Cloud computing is a very large subject and VSS is only a very small part of that if used at all as Nexus switches are often deployed into this scenario. So simply having a VSS enabled pair of 6500 switches in no way means you are ready for cloud computing.  You may want to look at a couple of the design guides for cloud computing in the data centre and you'll see just how complex it can be and all the different technologies deployed -
