3500 XL switch will not go into Rommon mode

I am working at a client site today.  We have an old switch that we are trying to set up for a new techie.  I wanted to do password recovery on the box, but I hold down the mode button, watch the port 1 led come on.  It should then be in rommon mode, but it seems to post and then loads flash.

What am i missing here?

Thanks for your help!

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

The password recovery procedure for this product advises that you can release the Mode button a second or two AFTER the LED above port 1x goes OFF, so perhaps you have released it to early.

Best regards,

Antonin

Kevin,

It appears you are doing things correctly. How long are you holding the mode button down? Is there a possibility that your mode button may be broken? Here are the instructions incase you don't already have them.

It was all very strange.  Yesterday I had to Hold the Mode button down while the unit posted until the LED 1

came up.  Then I had another individual hit control break.  We got to the rommon thereafter!

Thanks for your reply
