VLAN Extension

If we connect two switches with a trunk line and create VLAN 3 on each switch with a different name say e.g

Switch 1

VLAN 3

VLAN Name : Marketing

Switch 2

VLAN 3

VLAN Name : Technical

Will the VLANS extend across the two switches and work or not.

HI Daud,

I don't think that different name will have any issues unless your are using VTP for propagating vlan info between switches. The name is just a description for the vlan , but also keep in mind that having name vlan with different name doesn;t mean that will become different broadcast domains , users in vlan 3 on both switches will still be in same domain if a trunk exists between the switches.
