VLAN, layer 2 and layer 3 switches connection

I want to setup VLAN with the switches SG300 and SLM2024. What is the suggestion to connect these 2 switches. We have the Juniper net screen.

Jnuiper --- Layer 2 -- Layer 3?

Not familiars with SG300 and SLM2024, but for connecting the switches together, usually you use the fiber ports (if you have any)

The copper ports are usually for end devices and fiber ports for uplinks and interconnect. If you don't have the optics and the fiber cables than copper ports can also be use for interconnect and uplinks.
