vlan routing same switch 3550-12T

MHSITServices

Level 1

I'm having some problems setting up vlans to talk to each other on a 3550-12T switch.

Its quite a simple setup I have, but I need to split my network up.

Currently I have a network of 192.168.25.0 255.255.255.0

I want to create a new vlan network of 192.168.30.0 255.255.255.0

So I have configured my vlan1 (default vlan) to have an ip of 192.168.25.250 for getting to the management page

I have created a vlan2 of 192.168.30.1 255.255.255.0

I have a port 10 linked to one of my 3560G's

In port 9 which is on vlan2 I have my pc plugged in with a static ip of 192.168.30.50

from the router I can ping any device on 192.168.25.x

I can not ping 192.168.30.1 (which is my vlan2) nor can i ping the PC

I have enabled ip routing

But I dont have a default route, this is becase we don't have a router on the network,

Any suggestions, I'm not a cisco person by trade and I'm a little out of my comfort zone

Is 3550-12T connected to 3560G?

when you say "my pc plugged in with a static ip of 192.168.30.50"

so, is your pc onnected to the 3560G or 3550-12T?

from the router I can ping any device on 192.168.25.x

What device is the router?

Is that a separate device or one of the switches?

Perhaps, you can post simple diagram on how everything is connected together including your PC to help us help you.

HTH

my pc is plugged into the 3550

I do not have a router, we have a box of tricks that links are network.

I'm only interested currently on getting the 192.168.30.x network to speak to the 192.168.25.x network

So, both vlans are on the same switch right?

Do you have both SVIs for vlan 1 and 2

try these and post the output:

sh run int vlan 1

and

sh run int vlan 2

then see if the interfcese are in up and up mode

try these and post the output:

sh ip int bri vlan 1

and

sh ip int bri vlan 2

also

sh vlan

here it is,

Can you logon to the switch and try to

ping 192.168.30.1

and also

ping 192.168.25.250

if good try to ping the PC (30.50)

I can ping the ip's on the router

I cannot ping the PC

I can ping anything on the 192.168.25.x network from the router.

Regards

does the PC have any firewall software installed on it that maybe blocking ping?

It does.

But if we step back from that.

From the PC I can ping the switch on 192.168.30.1

From the PC I cannot ping 192.168.25.250

If I disconnect the Ethernet, and use my wi-fi , I can ping 192.168.25.250 , I then cannot ping 192.168.30.1

So try this

disable the wireless on the PC and then try to ping 25.250 using the Ethernet port

Try this

disable the wireless on the PC temporary and then try to ping 25.250 using the Ethernet port only.

Dest Host un-reachable.

I made more progress I have added onto the switch as follows

router rip

network 192.168.0.0

So from my PC I can now ping the 192.168.25.250

My next challenge is to see anything on 192.168.25.x

I'm going to guess I need to add to the connecting switch a path back somehow
