why is it when I do a show vlan I see all the vlans that are available and active(i'm not refering to the standard default one), but when I do a show int vlan xxx on each Vlan I can not see all of them

Hi
This is because "sh vlan" lists the vlans that have been created at layer 2.
sh int vlan xxx shows the L3 interfaces that have been created for the layer 2 vlans.
It is perfectly possible to have layer 2 vlans created on a switch that do not have a corresponding layer 3 interface.

Hi ,
Show vlan shows all the vlans configured on the switch.....Suppose in case of trunk link b/n switches you can able to see all the vlans allowed over the trunk link.
show int shows only the specific interface stats..
if you wabt to see partuclar valn stats you can use show vlan
it will not show the vlans configured on the switch or vlans allowed over the trunk..
Thanks,
satish
