I am planning to change the existing dell sws N2048 to the 2960x... I've heard that 2960x are not design to work with iSCSI as their performance is not enough. So can someone confirm if this is the right statement and if it is, what should be the correct series model to implement?

2960x series switches are mainly for user facing/campus environment and not so much for data center/VMware/iSCSI. I recommend you look at the Nexus series. Nexus 9ks are pretty good. See Link below for data sheet:

Hi I would presume/suggest that you have a pair of switches, for fault tolerance,
10G Ethernet is cheap and is almost minimum standard these days. Future proof, with 1-10GB
