vPC 5010 to 2148 - Server with Two Ports from Two fabric Extenders

Hi There,

We currently have dual-homed 2148's to 5010's and are now looking to add another pair of 2148's as single homed to provide vPC connectivity to dual attached Servers as below.

5010-A ----------------- 5010-B

   |                             |

   |                             |

   |                             |

2148-A                   2148-B

Fex102                  Fex103

   |                            |

    |                          |

     |                       |

      |      Server      |

I have had a look at the attached document and need some clarification. Can I have different FEX numbers 102 (on 5010-A) and 103 (on 5010-B) or do they both have to be the same as indicated in the document (FEX100) ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards

Jim.

Hi Jim,

You can have different FEX numbers.  That is how I have it setup in my lab.  I did it mainly to avoid confusion as to where the port belongs when I just look at port numbers.

This is really no different than making a vPC on two 7k's using different linecards on each.

I can post my configs as well, but they are nothing fancy.

Hope that helps

Thanks Chad,

That has cleared things up for me.
