Hi,
I need to move standby chassis of our 6500 VSS and I need to minimize impart to our running services. If I turn off Standby chassis will be there any downtime/outage or Active chassis will handle all traffic immediately? All other devices are connected to both chassis by etherchannel. If there is a downtime, how long it will take until Active chassis will handle all traffic?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and answers.
Richard

Hi Richard,
If everything is configured correctly, all the show commands show the correct settings for VSS (show switch ?) and all your access devices are connected to both chassis, you should not see much of convergence or downtime (Maybe 4 to 5 seconds).
You really only lose what is already in the wire and in most cases, this should not be more than 4 to 5 seconds (if that).

No outage and Active chassis will take over.
