Hi All,

Want to know the differences between vtpv2 nd v3?

Whether vtpv3 can advertises mst instance in it's updates ?

VTP V3 adds some security features into VTP like

• Primary Server - You can have only one primary server in your domain and only the primary server can update the vtp domain.
  
• Secondary Server - You can any number of secondary servers in your domain for backup, and any new/old switch accidentally connected to the network in server mode with higher revision number can only act as a secondary server, so it can't update the domain.
  
• MST Instance database - VTP can advertise MST-Instance mapping to the domain.

Hi Venkata,

I am just confused on MST part....My question is ...

If i enable vtpv3 and configure a new mst instance on primary server than that mst instance will automatically get advertised to other switches or not ?

Or i have to manually configure MST on all the switches.
