Currently we are in the process of migrating our legacy 7k/5k/2k environment to VXLAN EVPN. We have our 7k enviornment connected to two border gateways. We are connected at layer 2 (VPC) and layer3 (BGP). We have a desire to move SVI's before we move psychical servers.
As of now here is what we have tested and what works.
1. Server phsycially plugged into a leaf with layer 3 living on 7k.
2. Server phsycially plugged into leaf with layer 3 living on leaf (Anycast Gateway)
We are having issues moving the SVI to Leafs and server left on 7k. We have a device hardwired into a VLAN on 7k and it can not ping AnyCast Gateway. It can ping devices that are in the same subnet whether that device lives in legacy or new. It looks like Cisco reccommends creating the SVI on the border and not on the leafs for the migration. Is that requried? Is this the only place the SVI can live? I would prefer to just admin up the interfaces on the leafs and not create temporary SVI's on the border.
Thanks
