Hello,
I updated a 9200 switch ( 9200_24P-A), new, out of the box. in Install mode
From version 17.03.05 to 17.06.05
#install remove inactive
#copy usbflash0:cat9k_lite_iosxeXXXXX ( copy the new image)
#install add file flash:cat9k_liteXXXX17.06.05.SPA.bin activate commit.
The installation was long, maybe 20 mn ==>Is it normal for it to take so long?
During the installation, i got a warning about disk space :
%PLATFORM-4-ELEMENT_WARNING: Switch 1 R0/0: smand: 1/RP/0: limited space - copy files out of flash: directory. flash: value 85% (1615 MB) exceeds warning level 70% (1337 MB).
the installation ended correctly but I still have the warning
#dir flash:
Switch#dir flash:

it deleted the old files but also the new *.bin and a few others, but I imagine that once the installation is done, there is no need for these files anymore? My last upgrades were on 2960s, so it seems that the IOS installation method has evolved.

If you have issue before upgrade, you need to do that after upgrade, since OLD files still required the device to upgrade success and remove.
After upgrade to latest version and bootted success fully with new version now clean up.
#install remove inactive
you can also delete crashfiles (if you do not need it, or offload from device and delete it)

Just maybe a clarification, about 20 minutes to complete the upgrade, does that seem normal?
Thanks.

yes its normal from 15-20min.
if this is not part of SD-access there is new method of upgrade look below :
