Ways to upgrade Cisco 3850 in Install mode.

Hello there,

I know that for 3850, there's 2 upgrade types i.e. bundle and install.

So cut to the chase, I am confused about the many commands and ways people use to upgrade 3850 in Install mode.

There are 3 ways that I have seen till now.

1. install add file flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.12.05b.SPA.bin activate commit

2. request platform software package install switch all file flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.bin new auto-copy

3. software install file flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.03.01.SE.150-1.EZ1.bin verbose new force

I have just tried the 1st command and it worked for upgrading 16.9.4 to 16.12.05b

I just had to enter the 1st command and it did everything on its own.

So which command should I use for which specific purposes.

Please do explain all 3 commands and where to actually use them in 3850 case or if they can be used on other switches or routers, too.

This command is only valid when upgrading FROM 3.X.X.

This is my preferred method because I can use the option of "on-reboot" which stops the switch/stack to reboot and, thus, allows me to schedule the switch/stack to reboot at a later date.
