On the 7206 router network diagram, it shows fastethernet int as slot 4 port 1. However, on the config, it's defined as fastethernet4/0/1. Does anybody happen to know what that middle 0 stands for?

thanks.

Hi axfalk,

Depending on the type of router you have , the port designation convention might change. For example, some high end routers such as 7500 series device can have a virtual interface processor. Designation of these ports would also include the VIP slot:

//

Taking your example of fastethernet 4/0/1

port type ===> fast ethernet

slot num ===> 4

port adap number ===> 0

port number ===> 1
