Hi, When I tried copying  an IOS image from one router to another router through VPN Tunnle I found few dots while copying, and when I tried copying IOS image from one router to another switch using P2P link, I found few Circles while transfer.

However, both the transfers took same time to transfer and same amount of data rate. Can some one please explain whats the difference between these two.

1)      Via VPN Tunnel  à 34MB file took 4hrs to transfer at 2.2KBps speed

! - successfull transfer

O - retrying

. - no dice

Thanks for the information Leo Laohoo,

. - No dice, means no data ?

But even when I have seen "." in the transfer,  data flow was continuous on interface. SO, if we see "o" or"." in this transfer means there was some packet drop or delay response in the path ?

I did a continuous ping while doing this transfer, I did get drops but very few (10 drops in 4hrs duration)

Sorry.  I was trying to be funny (that failed epicly).  When I meant with "no dice" I meant the the data is dropped.
